When it rains in Canterbury-Bankstown, Roolu lists classes in Roselands, Bankstown, Revesby and Panania, plus a family movie session in Riverwood and a book club in Padstow. These are the options we would try first for a wet day. Check with each organiser that the session is indoors and running.
Out of the rain, to watch or join
- Family movie fun, in Riverwood.
- Atlas book lovers club, in Padstow. Ask about the age range.
Dance
- READY SET BALLET, First Steps READY SET DANCE and Prep READY SET DANCE are all listed in Roselands.
The names suggest a path from first steps for the youngest to more structured classes. Ask the organiser which suits your child.
Martial arts
- Cyber X Martial Arts in Bankstown, with one listing for ages 2 to 6 and one for ages 7 to 17.
- Kids 4-6 BJJ, in Revesby.
- Samurai Kids Beginners, in Revesby, and Samurai Kids (Beginners), in Panania.
These are the listings with ages we can give you. For the rest, ask.
Planning a wet day
- Message the organiser the day before and again in the morning, because plans can change when the weather turns.
- Ask about trial classes, cost and booking. We don't have them.
- Allow extra drive time. Roselands, Bankstown, Revesby and Panania are different suburbs, so pick one and stay local.
- Pack a towel and a change of clothes for the dash from the car.
If you have two children of different ages, Cyber X in Bankstown is the one listing with separate age groups for younger and older children, so check the timetable to see whether the sessions line up.
What we left out
Some events in the area, like carols in the park, are outdoors, so they are not here. Other festivals and tournaments are listed for the area, but we don't know whether they are indoors, so we have not suggested them for a rainy day.
We're still adding indoor play spaces and clubs across Canterbury-Bankstown. The organisers' own pages have the latest details.
