  6. Planning a wet day

On a wet day in the Inner West, Roolu lists classes in Leichhardt, Marrickville and Rozelle, plus a musical in Leichhardt and a market in Ashfield. Here are the options we would look at first. Check with each organiser that the session is indoors and running.

Music and dance

  • Support Band - Junior Band, in Leichhardt.
  • READY SET DANCE Level 1, READY SET DANCE and JAM BUDDIES, all in Marrickville.

Making things

  • Sewing Classes on Tuesday and Thursday, in Rozelle. Ask the organiser about the age range, because we don't have it.

Group classes in Marrickville

Three Junior Group Classes are listed in Marrickville, split by age: 4 to 7, 8 to 11 and 12 to 16. We don't have details of what they teach, so open the listing to see.

A show and a market

  • The Addams Family, the musical, in Leichhardt. Check the organiser for session times and age suitability.
  • European Christmas Market, in Ashfield. We don't know whether it is indoors, so ask before counting on it for a wet day.
  • Decathlon Tempe Kids Sports Party, in Tempe. Ask what it involves and whether it is indoors.

What we left out

Bush school at Callan Park in Lilyfield is outdoors, so it is not a wet-day pick. The Sashiko Workshop in Marrickville is listed too, but we have no sign it is made for children.

Planning a wet day

  • Marrickville has four of the classes, so it is the easiest place to build a rainy-day routine.
  • If you have children of different ages, the three Junior Group Classes cover 4 to 16 in the one suburb. Check whether times line up.
  • Message the organiser the day before and again in the morning, in case plans change.
  • Pack a towel and a spare change of clothes for the dash from the car.

Ask about trial classes, costs and booking, because we don't have them. We're still adding indoor play spaces and clubs across the Inner West, and the organisers' own pages have the latest details.

Built from Roolu's local listings. Dates, prices and ages can change, so check with each organiser before you go.
