Outdoor days for kids on the Northern Beaches are not only about the sand. We have four outdoor places listed: two in Duffys Forest, one at Collaroy Beach and Taronga Zoo, which is listed under Manly. No outdoor classes or events are listed at the moment, so this guide is about the places themselves and how to plan a visit.

Places to head outdoors

  • Sydney Christmas Tree Farm, Duffys Forest.
  • Steuart Stables, Duffys Forest.
  • The Orchard Farm, Collaroy Beach.
  • Taronga Zoo, listed in Manly.

The listings below this guide have contact details and links for each one.

Duffys Forest

Duffys Forest is home to two of the places on our list, Sydney Christmas Tree Farm and Steuart Stables. We do not have details on what children can do at either, so ask the organiser what is on offer, which ages they welcome and whether you need to book first. If you would like to visit both on one trip, check how far apart they are before you leave home.

Collaroy Beach and Manly

The Orchard Farm is at Collaroy Beach, which could suit a day that mixes a farm visit with time near the water. Ask the organiser about opening days and what families can do there, as we do not have those details. Taronga Zoo is the name most families will already know. Check the zoo's own page for opening hours, ticket prices and how to get there, because none of that is in our data.

Matching places to ages

We do not have age ranges for these places. Younger children often do better with a shorter visit and a snack break, while older kids may enjoy a longer day. Ask each place whether it suits babies, toddlers or school-age children, and whether prams can get around easily.

Planning an outdoor day

  • Look at the weather and the organiser's page on the morning, because outdoor places can close or change plans in bad conditions.
  • Ask about prices, opening days and booking before you leave, as we do not list them.
  • Pack water, sun protection and shoes that can get dirty.
  • Ask about toilets and food if you have little ones.

Outdoor places change what they offer through the year, so use each organiser's own page for the latest details. We are still adding outdoor options across the Northern Beaches, so check back soon.

Built from Roolu's local listings. Dates, prices and ages can change, so check with each organiser before you go.
