Outdoor days on the Lower North Shore can mean bush play, a zoo visit or a harbourside amusement park. We have four outdoor options listed: a bush kids session in Lane Cove North, Luna Park Sydney at Milsons Point, and Taronga Zoo Sydney and Taronga Conservation, both listed at Clifton Gardens. No outdoor classes are listed at the moment, so this guide covers the places and the one event we have.
Bush play in Lane Cove North
Once a Tiny Tadpole, by Lane Cove Bush Kids, is the event listed in Lane Cove North. The name suggests it is aimed at younger children, but we do not have an age range, a price or session details, so ask the organiser what ages it suits, how long it runs and whether you need to book. The events below this guide have the current dates and links.
Zoo and conservation at Clifton Gardens
Taronga Zoo Sydney and Taronga Conservation are both listed at Clifton Gardens. Check the zoo's own page for opening hours, ticket prices and how to get there, as we do not hold those details. If you are planning a day with several kids, ask about the best way to arrive and what facilities there are for prams.
Luna Park at Milsons Point
Luna Park Sydney is listed at Milsons Point. Rides often have age or height rules, so check the park's own page before you go, along with ticket types and opening days. We have no prices or ride details.
Planning an outdoor day
- Look at the weather on the morning and have a back-up plan.
- Check opening days, prices and booking rules on each organiser's page.
- Pack water, sun protection and comfortable shoes.
- Allow time for travel, as these places are spread around the area.
- Ask about toilets, food and pram access, especially with little ones.
Matching the day to your kids
Younger children often enjoy a shorter outing with plenty of breaks, such as a bush session in Lane Cove North, while older kids may be ready for a longer day at a bigger attraction. Because we do not have age ranges, ask each place which ages it suits.
Outdoor places change their hours and what they offer, so use each organiser's own page for the latest details. We are still adding outdoor options across the Lower North Shore, so check back soon.
