Learning options for kids in the Eastern Suburbs go beyond the classroom. We have ten places listed, including five local libraries, La Perouse Museum, Vaucluse House and three learning centres, plus one drop-in art workshop in Double Bay. We have not listed any STEM-specific programs here yet, and no regular classes are listed at the moment, so this guide sticks to what we do have.

Libraries across the area

Libraries are a good place to start because they sit in so many suburbs. The listed ones are Randwick City Library (Margaret Martin Library) in Randwick, Lionel Bowen Library in Maroubra, Waverley Library in Bondi Junction, Woollahra Library in Double Bay and Watsons Bay Library. We do not have their children's session times, so ask each library what it runs for kids and whether you need to book.

Museums and heritage

La Perouse Museum and Vaucluse House are both listed. They suit a family outing that is more about looking and learning than enrolling in a course. Check each one's own page for opening days, prices and anything planned for children, as we do not hold those details.

Learning centres

Three centres are listed:

  • Kumon Bondi Junction Education Centre, in Bondi Junction.
  • Eye Level Learning Centre, in Randwick.
  • Harmony Russian School of Sydney, in Bondi.

We do not have ages, fees or timetables for these, so contact each one. Ask about trial sessions, how progress is shared with parents and how often your child would attend.

A drop-in workshop in Double Bay

The Drop-in Workshop with Artist Samuel Chan is in Double Bay. A drop-in format usually means you do not need to commit to a course, but check with the organiser whether booking is needed and which ages it suits. The events below this guide have the dates and links as the organisers publish them.

Planning your week

  • Pick a place near home or school so it is easy to keep up.
  • Ask about age ranges, as we do not have them.
  • Mix one regular activity with an occasional outing to a museum or library.
  • Check opening days before you set off.

Organisers change their programs, so use their own pages for the latest details. We are still adding classes and STEM options across the Eastern Suburbs, so check back soon.

Built from Roolu's local listings. Dates, prices and ages can change, so check with each organiser before you go.
