Free things to do with kids on the Lower North Shore, as Roolu has them today, come to seven listings: a plaza event in Lane Cove, a fair in Neutral Bay and a cluster of sessions in North Sydney. This guide covers only the free options. Confirm details with each organiser before you head out.
Out and about
- First Fridays in the Plaza, in Lane Cove.
- Gumnut Fair, in Neutral Bay.
- Twilight Food Fair, in North Sydney. The name suggests an evening outing, so check the hours.
For the littlest ones
- Explorers Playgroup FREE Session, in North Sydney. A playgroup is a relaxed place for small children to play while you chat to other parents.
- Grandparents Storytime, in North Sydney. The name suggests it is a good one to bring a grandparent along to, so ask the organiser how it works.
For school-age kids
- LEGO Legends, in North Sydney, listed for ages 3 to 12.
- Community toy reuse volunteer session, in North Sydney. It is a chance to help out. Ask the organiser whether children can join in and at what age.
Making a day of it
Five of the seven listings are in North Sydney, so that is the easiest place to build a free morning or afternoon. You could pair a playgroup or storytime with a LEGO session, if the times line up.
The other two are in Lane Cove and Neutral Bay. They are one-off outings, so check the organisers for when they are on and plan the trip around them.
With the fairs, think about the travel side too. Public transport and parking can be tricky when a crowd is coming, so check access before you go. Pack water and a snack for the kids so you are not buying at the first stall you pass.
What to check
- Times and whether you need to book.
- Age ranges. Only LEGO Legends has one in our data.
- Whether a parent or carer needs to stay.
We're still adding free options for the rest of the Lower North Shore, so look again soon. The organisers' own pages have the latest details.
