Looking for something free to do with the kids in the Eastern Suburbs? We list five free events across Double Bay, Woollahra, Bondi Junction and Randwick. This guide shows what they are and how to plan around them.
Free events we list
In Double Bay there are two: a Drop-in Workshop with Artist Samuel Chan, and Samhain the Spirit of Woollahra, a Family Fun day. In Woollahra there is Jazz in Chiswick Park. In Bondi Junction there is Wave Con: Comics and Games Day. In Randwick there is a toy swap at the Saturday Circle.
Together they cover art, music, comics and games, and a swap that gives a toy a second home. The events below are updated as organisers publish them, so check the list for what is on now.
Check the details before you go
We don't have start times, age ranges or what is on offer at each event, so check the organiser's page. Events like these can change, and some may have limited places or need you to register. A short check the day before saves a wasted trip.
Questions to ask or look up:
- Is booking needed, even though it is free?
- What age is the event aimed at?
- Is there seating or shade, and where do we meet?
Planning the day
Group your trip by suburb. Double Bay has two events, so keep an eye out in case they fall close together. A workshop or fun day can fill a morning, and a nearby park or cafe stop can fill the rest.
For the toy swap, it helps to talk with your child beforehand about choosing a toy to bring. Doing it as a family makes the swap part of the fun. At a workshop, drop-in format usually means you can arrive without a booking, but confirm with the organiser. At a music event, little ones may like a spot where they can wriggle, so bring something to sit on.
Public transport or parking can be tight on busy days in places like Bondi Junction and Double Bay, so leave extra time to get there.
Keeping up with what's new
We're still adding free events and activities across the Eastern Suburbs. New listings will show in the events below. For the latest on timing and what to bring, check the organisers' own pages.
