Parents in the Eastern Suburbs can find art studios from Bondi and Waverley to Woollahra, Double Bay and Maroubra. We list six arts and crafts clubs or schools for kids and one event. This guide shows what is listed and how to choose.

Art studios in the Eastern Suburbs

The listings are Waverley Woollahra Art School in Bondi, Little Ginger Studio in Waverley, Art Lab School in Woollahra, The Art Studio in South Coogee and Eastern Suburbs Artistic School in Double Bay. RFTS School of Performing ARTS in Maroubra is also listed, and as its name suggests it leans towards performing arts, so check what it teaches if you want painting or craft.

Bondi, Waverley and Woollahra families have studios close by. If you live further south, around South Coogee or Maroubra, those two are your nearest options on this list.

An event to look at

Wave Con: Comics and Games Day is listed in Bondi Junction. It may suit children who like drawing, comics or games. We don't have the date, cost or age range, so check the organisers' page for the day's details before you plan around it.

What we don't know yet

We don't have class times, fees or age ranges for the studios, so we won't guess at them. Each studio sets its own, so contact them directly.

Questions to ask:

  • Which ages do you take, and is there a trial session?
  • Do you run workshops in the school holidays?
  • Are materials included in the price?
  • Can parents stay during the class?

Choosing a class

A studio near home or school is easiest to keep up. Parking and traffic in the Eastern Suburbs can be tricky at busy times, so think about how you will get there each week. Public transport may suit older children who can travel with a friend.

Then think about your child. Younger children often enjoy a relaxed session where they can explore paint, clay or collage. Older children may want to work on drawing skills or build a portfolio. Ask the studio to describe a typical class, and look at its own page for examples of its style. Smaller groups often mean more attention from the teacher, so ask about class sizes too.

Keeping up with what's new

We're still adding arts and crafts options across the Eastern Suburbs, including workshops and local events. New listings will show in the events and clubs below. For the latest details, check the organisers' own pages.

Built from Roolu's local listings. Dates, prices and ages can change, so check with each organiser before you go.
