Looking for swimming lessons for kids in the Sutherland Shire? Roolu lists ten swim schools in the area right now, in Engadine, Kirrawee, Miranda, Caringbah, Cronulla, Port Hacking, Bangor and Menai. There are no swimming events or classes listed separately at the moment, so this guide covers the schools and how to choose.

Who is listed, by suburb

The clubs below this guide link to each organiser. Here is where they are:

  • Engadine: Dolphin Swim School.
  • Kirrawee: Southern Swim School and Swimmos Learn To Swim.
  • Miranda: Starting Blocks Swim school.
  • Caringbah: Swimmerz Academy and Future Swim Caringbah.
  • Cronulla: Cronulla Beach Swim School.
  • Port Hacking: Kids Aquatic Survival School.
  • Bangor: Little Fins Swim School.
  • Menai: Menai Swim Academy.

Kirrawee and Caringbah each have two schools, so families nearby have a choice without travelling far. Cronulla Beach Swim School has Cronulla in its name, but we cannot say whether lessons are held at the beach or in a pool, so ask.

What our listings do not say

We know the name and suburb of each school. We do not have the ages, levels, class sizes, fees or pool details, so we have left them out. Ask each school:

  • Which ages do you take, and how are classes grouped?
  • Can my child have a trial or assessment first?
  • What days and times do lessons run, and how long are they?
  • What does a term or a single lesson cost?
  • Is there a waiting list?

Choosing between them

For most families, location comes first. Weekly lessons are easier to keep up when the pool is close to home or school. After that, ask about class size and how the school groups children by skill. If your child is nervous, ask how new swimmers are settled in.

Planning lesson day

  • Pack the bag the night before, with a towel, a swimsuit and goggles if your child wears them.
  • Arrive a little early so your child can settle before the lesson starts.
  • Check where parents sit or watch, and whether there is parking nearby.
  • Ask how the school handles make-up lessons if your child misses one.

Still adding more

We are still adding swimming options for the Sutherland Shire, including events and classes. Check the schools' own pages for the latest details before you book.

Built from Roolu's local listings. Dates, prices and ages can change, so check with each organiser before you go.
