Schools, clubs and pools
Going by their names, Ryde has the most swim schools, three in the one suburb. Hunters Hill Swimming Club is a club, which may suit a child who can already swim and wants to train with others. Epping Aquatic and Leisure Centre and Brewer Swimming Centre are pools or centres, and Woolwich Baths is a baths in Woolwich. The Royal Life Saving Aquatic Academy in Denistone East suggests water safety as well as swimming, so ask what its programs cover.
Questions to ask before you book
- What levels and ages does each class cover?
- How many children are in a group?
- Is the pool indoors or outdoors, and is it heated?
- Can a parent watch?
- What happens if we miss a lesson?
Planning the week
Ryde is the easiest place to compare because it has three schools. Fullers Bridge has two listings, which helps if you are in Hunters Hill. Woolwich Baths is worth asking about if you want a pool close to the river. Whichever you pick, check the access details and parking before the first visit. If you have more than one child, ask about back-to-back classes.
