Swimming for kids on the Lower North Shore is well covered. We have ten swim schools, swim clubs and pools listed, from Lane Cove and Northbridge to Crows Nest, North Sydney and Cremorne Point. No swimming events or single classes are listed right now, so this guide points you to the places that run regular lessons or club swimming.

Swim schools, clubs and pools

Going by their names, the listings fall into three groups.

  • Swim schools: Pacific Swim School and JUMP! Swim Schools (both Crows Nest Junction), Swim Doctor Swim School (North Sydney), Carlile Swimming Lane Cove West, and Thompson Swimming (Lane Cove)
  • Swim clubs: Mosman Swim Club (Spit Junction) and Lane Cove Swim Club (Lane Cove)
  • Pools and baths: North Sydney Olympic Pool (Milsons Point), Maccallum Seawater Pool (Cremorne Point) and Northbridge Baths Aquatic Fitness Centre (Northbridge)

The clubs below this guide link to each one. We have not been given lesson times, fees or age ranges, so please check these with each place.

Lessons or club swimming?

A swim school is usually where a child starts, learning to float, kick and breathe. A swim club is more likely to suit a child who can already swim and wants to train or race. If you are not sure where your child fits, ask the school for an assessment or a trial before you pay for a term.

Questions to ask before you book

  • What ages and levels does each class take?
  • How many children are in a class?
  • Is the pool indoors or outdoors, and is it heated?
  • Can a parent watch from the side?
  • What is the make-up lesson policy if we miss a week?

Planning the week

Lane Cove and Crows Nest Junction each have more than one option, so you can compare without crossing the whole area. If you have two children at different levels, ask whether they can be booked into back-to-back classes. For harbour and seawater pools, check with the operator about conditions, supervision and opening arrangements before you go.

We will keep adding swimming events and programs as we find them. For the latest on spots and times, use each organiser's own page or phone number.

Built from Roolu's local listings. Dates, prices and ages can change, so check with each organiser before you go.
