If you are looking for dance for kids on the Upper North Shore, we have ten dance studios and academies listed. They are spread from Roseville, Lindfield and Gordon to Pymble, Wahroonga, Thornleigh and Hornsby. No dance events or single classes are listed right now, so this guide is about the studios that run regular classes.
Where the studios are
- Roseville: Dancique School of Dance and Motif Dance Studios
- Pymble: NSW International Ballet Academy and Northern Ballet Studios
- Thornleigh: Action Dance Academy and Lorrynne School of Dance
- Gordon: The Jazz Factory
- Lindfield: Ecole Ballet and Dance Theatre
- Wahroonga: Jigsaw Dance Studio Hornsby Wahroonga
- Hornsby: Footloose Performance Studios
The clubs below this guide link to each one. We have not been given class times, fees or age ranges, so please check these with each studio.
Ballet, jazz and performance
Some names point to a style. Two Pymble studios and one in Lindfield have ballet in the name, and The Jazz Factory in Gordon points to jazz. Others, such as Footloose Performance Studios, sound broader. The names alone will not tell you which styles are taught or whether a studio takes beginners, so ask. If your child is trying dance for the first time, look for a studio that offers a trial class.
Questions to ask before you book
- Which ages and levels does the class take?
- Can we try one class first?
- Is a uniform needed, and what does it cost?
- Do classes lead to concerts or exams, and are those extra?
- Can a parent watch?
Planning the week
Roseville, Pymble and Thornleigh each have two studios listed, so you can compare in one area without a long drive. If you live between suburbs, check the traffic on the way home, because a class that is close on the map may take longer than you expect at pick-up time. If you have more than one child, ask about back-to-back classes.
We are still adding dance events and one-off workshops for the Upper North Shore. For the latest on class times and spaces, use each studio's own page or phone number.
