No swimming events or single classes are listed right now, so this guide points to the places that run regular lessons or open swimming.

Aquatic centres and swim schools
Going by their names, there are two kinds of listing. The aquatic centres and the Dawn Fraser pool are pools, so ask whether families can swim casually as well as take lessons. The swim schools focus on lessons. Many families use both, with weekly lessons at a school and a casual swim at a pool. Ask each place what it offers for your child's age.
Questions to ask before you book
- What ages and levels does each class cover?
- How many children are in a class?
- Is the pool indoors or outdoors, and is it heated?
- Can a parent stay and watch?
- What is the make-up lesson policy?
Planning the week
Leichhardt has two listings and Lilyfield and Balmain are close by, so that corner of the Inner West is the easiest to compare. Further south, Enmore, Petersham, St Peters and Tempe each have a listing. Choose the one on your usual school or work run so the weekly trip stays easy. If you have more than one child, ask about back-to-back classes.
We are still adding swimming events and programs for the Inner West. For the latest on spots and times, use each organiser's own page or phone number.
