Swim schools and coastal pools
Going by their names, most of the listings are swim schools. Giles Baths, Ross Jones Memorial Pool and Ivo Rowe Rock Pool are baths and pools in the Coogee area, so they may suit a family day out as well as lessons. Because they sit by the coast, ask the operator about conditions, supervision and any limits for young children before you go.
Questions to ask before you book
- What ages and levels does each class take?
- How many children are in a group?
- Is the pool indoors or outdoors, and is it heated?
- Can a parent watch?
- What happens if we miss a lesson?
Planning the week
The listings are spread across the area, so choose one that fits your usual route rather than the closest on the map. Coogee and South Coogee together have three listings, so it is the easiest area to compare. Parking near the beaches can be tight, so check the access details before your first visit. If you have more than one child, ask about back-to-back classes.
We are still adding swimming events and programs for the Eastern Suburbs. For the latest on spots and times, use each organiser's own page or phone number.
