Woodcroft has more listed than many suburbs, from a free weekend kids club and a teddy bear picnic to art classes, physie and a wildlife park. The Summer school holidays run from 18 Dec 2026 to 27 Jan 2027 (starting in 6 weeks). Those are NSW public-school dates, and Catholic and independent schools can differ, so check with your own school.
Six events to look at
- Lone Pine Kids Club in Rooty Hill, listed as free weekend kids activities.
- Bushcare meet up at Nurragingy Reserve in Doonside.
- A Teddy Bear Picnic and markets event in Blacktown.
- Future Fiestas in Blacktown.
- Family Fun Day in Quakers Hill.
- The Criminal Process, a UNSW Youth Legal Workshop in Blacktown.
The legal workshop is for older kids and teens, but we don't have an age range, so ask the organiser. Dates and times come from the organisers, so open the listings below.
Classes close to home
Doonside has the most. There are Beginners, Intermediate and Advanced Art Classes, and Physie for ages 3 to 6, 7 to 8 and 9 to 12. If you have kids at different levels or ages, the age bands make it easier to find a fit. Ask about trial sessions and about what a class costs, as we don't have prices.
Clubs and places to visit
Iris Art Studio, St Pats Soccer Club, Shihan Franks Karate Academy and Lotus Yoga Kids Quakers Hill are all listed under Doonside. Two libraries are listed there as well, a Library Building and a School Library. Featherdale Wildlife Park is in Blacktown. We don't have opening hours or ticket details for it, so check its own page before you plan the day.
Planning the days
- Use the free weekend session as an easy anchor day.
- Doonside, Rooty Hill, Blacktown and Quakers Hill are all fairly close, so you can often fit in two stops.
- A wildlife park is a bigger outing. Check ticket prices, opening times and what to bring.
- Have a quiet day between busy ones, and a wet-weather backup such as the library.
