East Blaxland families can fill the break with a stage show, an art class and a good run of martial arts, dance and cheer clubs in nearby Blaxland, Leonay and Emu Plains. Roolu lists one event, one class and eight clubs. The Summer school holidays run from 18 Dec 2026 to 27 Jan 2027 (starting in 6 weeks). Those are the NSW public-school dates, and Catholic and independent schools can differ, so check your own school.
The event
Alice in Wonderland: The Musical is listed in Emu Plains. A show is a good way to spend a morning or afternoon without a lot of planning, but we don't have the age guidance, times, ticket prices or venue details. Check the organiser's page before you book.
The class
There is a Monday early childhood art class in Emu Plains. It sounds like one for the youngest children, but we don't have the exact age range or cost, so ask the provider. Because it is a regular class, it is worth asking whether it runs in the holidays.
Martial arts and movement
- Blue Mountains Taekwondo in Blaxland, plus Blue Mountains Tae Kwon Do, listed in Leonay.
- Western Sydney Brazilian Jiu-jitsu in Blaxland.
- Dance On Pointe, Fanci Footwork Dance and Cheer and Fusion Movement Studio, all in Blaxland.
That is a lot of options, so contact two or three with the same questions: what ages, is there a trial class, and is anything running in the break?
Libraries
Blaxland Library and Blaxland Public Library are both listed in Leonay. Libraries are a good free option for a quiet day, and many run children's sessions. We don't have the program details, so check with the library.
Putting a week together
- Book the musical first, as shows can sell out, then fit other things around it.
- Choose one active option, such as a martial arts trial or a dance class.
- Add a library visit for a slow day.
- Allow travel time, because Emu Plains is a drive away.
