Looking for play and playgroups for kids on the Lower North Shore? Roolu lists seven places right now: one playgroup, one kids club and five game and play venues. Most are in Chatswood. We are still adding more playgroups, so this is a start rather than the full picture.
What is listed now
The clubs below this guide link to each organiser. Here is where they are:
- North Sydney: Explorers Playgroup.
- North Willoughby: Planet Mino Kids Club.
- Chatswood: Strike Bowling Chatswood, Timezone Chatswood, VR Kingdom and Claw World Chatswood.
- Balmoral: 1Up Arcade.
Explorers Playgroup is the only playgroup in the list so far. If you are after a regular, relaxed morning with other parents, start there and ask the organiser about ages, days and cost.
A day out in Chatswood
Four of the seven listings are in Chatswood, which makes it easy to put together a day. Strike Bowling, Timezone, VR Kingdom and Claw World are all listed there. We do not have opening times, prices or age limits for any of them, so check each venue's own page. If you want to try virtual reality or bowling, ask about age rules and any height or safety limits before you go.
Questions to ask first
Our listings give the name and the suburb, not the details. It helps to ask:
- Which ages is it for, and do parents need to stay?
- What does a session or visit cost?
- Do I need to book, or can we just turn up?
- How long does a session run?
- Is there somewhere to eat nearby?
Playgroup or play venue?
A playgroup is usually a regular meeting where children play together and parents chat. A venue is a place you visit when you feel like it. Both can be good. A playgroup gives your child familiar faces, and a venue gives you a treat for a wet afternoon. We cannot tell you the setting of each venue, so check the page.
Planning the trip
Chatswood is a busy centre, so check parking and public transport before you leave. North Sydney, North Willoughby and Balmoral are each a short way from the others, but travel times vary, so plan ahead.
Still adding more
We are still adding playgroups and play places for the Lower North Shore. Check the organisers' own pages for the latest details before you go.
