Eight outdoor places are listed for kids in The Hills, from a state forest and a farm to a skatepark and an adventure course. Most are in Castle Hill and Baulkham Hills, with two in Rouse Hill. The events and clubs below list them with links.

Nature and open space

  • Cumberland State Forest in Castle Hill.
  • Hunts Creek Waterfall in Baulkham Hills.
  • Bella Vista Farm in Baulkham Hills.
  • Koala Park in Castle Hill.

We don't have opening times, entry costs or facilities for these, so check each place's own page before you go. If you are heading for a walk to the waterfall, wear shoes with good grip and check conditions first.

Active and adventurous

  • Treetops Adventure in Castle Hill.
  • Cherrybrook Skatepark in Castle Hill.
  • Action Paintball Games in Rouse Hill. Check the minimum age and safety rules before you book.
  • The Ponds Parkrun in Rouse Hill. Check its own page for times and for how children can take part.

Active places often set age, height or safety rules. We don't have those details, so ask the venue before you travel. A skatepark visit is also easier to plan if you know whether your child needs a helmet and pads.

Planning the day

  • Check the weather the morning you go. If it looks wet or very hot, pick another day or another place.
  • Pack water, snacks, sunscreen and a hat, and spare clothes for little ones who may get muddy.
  • Look at the venue's page for toilets, parking and whether prams can get through.
  • For a first outing, choose one place and stay a short time. You can always stay longer next visit.
  • For mixed ages, a farm or wildlife visit tends to work for a wider spread than a skatepark or adventure course. Check each place for what it allows.

Keep checking back

Details change with the season and the weather, so go to each organiser's own page for the latest. We're still adding outdoor options across The Hills, including the smaller suburbs, so check the listings below again soon.

Built from Roolu's local listings. Dates, prices and ages can change, so check with each organiser before you go.
