The Hills has library sessions, museums and learning centres you can use for kids' learning. We have eight library sessions listed, plus ten places such as museums, language schools and tutoring centres. The events and clubs below list them with links.
Library sessions
Most of the events we have listed are at libraries in Rouse Hill, Castle Hill and Baulkham Hills.
- Baby Bounce at Castle Hill Library, Dural Library and Vinegar Hill Memorial Library.
- Toddler Time at Vinegar Hill Memorial Library.
- Preschool Storytime at Baulkham Hills, Castle Hill and Vinegar Hill Memorial libraries.
- Bricks in the Library, run by Inclusive Builders, in Castle Hill.
We don't have age ranges for these, so check with the library. The names suggest the first sessions suit babies and toddlers, and storytime suits preschoolers. Libraries are also listed as places to visit in their own right, including Baulkham Hills Library and the Vinegar Hill Memorial Library and Community Centre.
Museums and places to explore
The listings include Museums Discovery Centre and the Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences in Castle Hill, plus Sydney Living Museum in Rouse Hill. We don't have opening times, prices or what is on display, so look at their own pages to see what suits your child's age. A museum visit works well as a single outing, so you can keep it short and let your child lead.
Language schools and tutoring
Two Chinese language schools are listed in Baulkham Hills: Hanwen Chinese Community Language School and The Hills Chinese School. Kumon has centres listed in Castle Hill and Baulkham Hills. ASCA, the Australian Speech Communication Association, is also listed in Baulkham Hills. We don't have class times, ages or fees, so contact each one directly.
How to plan
- Start with the library nearest you. Sessions are a low-cost way to see whether your child enjoys a group, though you should check the library's page for booking and cost.
- For museums, check opening times before you travel, and ask what suits your child's age.
- For language and tutoring centres, ask about a trial or an assessment, and what a typical week looks like.
- Pick one thing to try first rather than signing up for several.
Keep checking back
Library programs and class offers change often, so use the organiser's own page for the latest details. We're still adding classes and STEM options across The Hills, so look at the listings below again soon.
