There are ten dance studios and schools listed for kids across Parramatta and Cumberland. They are spread over Pendle Hill, Auburn, Toongabbie, Guildford, Granville and Parramatta. The events and clubs below give you the full list with links.
Dance studios by suburb
- Auburn has the most listings: Lingalayam Dance Company, IMI Dance, Hype Dance Co and Jump Performing Arts.
- Parramatta: Intricate school of hip hop and Crossover Dance Parramatta.
- Pendle Hill: Dance Expression.
- Toongabbie: NIPA-Nartan Institute of Performing Arts.
- Guildford: Byrnes Dance Image.
- Granville: Dance Image.
Some names point to a style, such as hip hop at Intricate school of hip hop. For the others, we don't have class lists, so look at each studio's own page to see which styles and age groups it teaches.
What we don't know yet
We have no class times, prices or age ranges for these studios. We also have no dance events listed for the area at the moment. We won't guess. The studio is the right place to ask about:
- which age groups it takes, including the youngest
- whether it runs a trial class or a free first visit
- what children need to wear
- whether classes run in term time only
- how often students perform, and whether that costs extra
Choosing a studio
- Start with the studio closest to home or school. A short trip makes it much easier to keep going each week.
- Ask to watch a class before you enrol, if the studio allows it. You will see how the teacher speaks to the children and how big the group is.
- Think about what your child enjoys. Some children want to move to music with friends, and others want to work toward a performance.
- If you are comparing two studios, ask the same questions at both so you can compare fairly.
Planning the first class
- Check the studio's page or message them for the current timetable.
- Allow time to park and find the room, as first visits often take longer.
- Bring a drink bottle and let your child wear comfortable clothes that are easy to move in.
- Keep the first class low-pressure. Many children watch for a few minutes before they join in.
