Arts and crafts for kids in Parramatta and Cumberland include library craft sessions, galleries and a handful of art studios in suburbs from Parramatta to Auburn. Contact each one for ages and costs before you go.
What is on now
Two library craft events are listed. A Diwali story time and craft is on at Parramatta Library, and a lantern craft session is on at Ermington Library. Check the events below for current times and booking details, and ask the library about ages.
Art studios and galleries by suburb
- Parramatta: Margaret Whitlam Galleries and the Institute for Australian and Chinese Arts and Culture are listed.
- Guildford: Peacock Gallery and Arts Studio is listed.
- Pendle Hill: Sharz Art Design is listed.
- Auburn: A little bite studio is listed.
- Wentworthville: Shayoka's Art Classes is listed.
- Westmead: Westmeadartworld is listed.
We don't have the ages, prices or timetables for these, so please contact each one. Some may be galleries to visit rather than classes, so ask whether they run children's sessions. A few questions help:
- Which ages does the class or session take?
- Can my child try one first?
- Are materials included?
- Does a parent stay?
- Does it run during the school holidays?
Planning a day out
- Combine a library craft session with a walk through a gallery. Ask the gallery whether children are welcome and whether there is a quiet space.
- Check travel. These suburbs are spread across a large area, so choose one or two near you.
- Pack water and a snack, and wear clothes that can get messy.
The area takes in Parramatta, Westmead, Wentworthville, Pendle Hill, Toongabbie, Greystanes, Merrylands, Guildford, Granville and Auburn. We have no arts listing yet in Toongabbie, Greystanes, Merrylands or Granville, and we're still adding more.
