Looking for swimming for kids in the Hawkesbury? We list four swimming places, in Richmond and Windsor. They are a place to start if your child is learning to swim or building confidence in the water. Each one sets its own classes, prices and age ranges, so you will need to check with them directly.

The swimming places we list

In Windsor, there is Linda's Learn To Swim. In Richmond, there are Aynsleys Aquatics Swim School, Starfish Aquatics and Richmond Swimming Centre. You will find them in the clubs below. We don't yet list any swimming events, and we have nothing listed in Londonderry. If you live there, check the Richmond and Windsor listings.

A swimming centre may offer lessons, public swimming or both, so ask which you are getting.

What to ask before you enrol

  • Ask what age and skill level each class is for. Some schools group children by ability, not only by age.
  • Ask how long each lesson runs and how many children are in a group.
  • Ask whether a parent needs to be in the water or on the pool deck.
  • Ask what the fees cover and how booking and payment work.
  • Ask about the days and times on offer, and whether there is a waiting list.
  • Ask whether they take older children who are new to swimming.

Getting ready for lessons

Pack goggles, a towel and a swim cap if the school asks for them. Check what to bring when you book. Label your child's things, and ask whether the school provides any equipment. Arrive a few minutes early the first time so your child can settle in and see the pool. A calm first visit helps.

Choosing between places

If you are unsure, call two or three places and compare how they answer. A clear answer about class size and safety is a good sign. Ask a friend who already uses one. Think about travel too, as a pool that is easy to reach is easier to keep going to every week.

Staying safe around water

Lessons build skills, but they don't replace supervision. Keep young children within arm's reach near any water. Stay and watch your child near the water unless the school gives other instructions.

Our list is still growing. For current classes, prices and availability, check the organisers' own pages.

Built from Roolu's local listings. Dates, prices and ages can change, so check with each organiser before you go.
