Around Monterey you will find junior football clubs, swim schools, a taekwondo class and a few community events. The Summer school holidays run from 18 Dec 2026 to 27 Jan 2027 (starting in 6 weeks). These are the NSW public-school dates. Catholic and independent schools can differ, so check your own school's calendar.
Most listings are in nearby Kogarah, St George, Ramsgate and Carss Park. We're still adding holiday programs near Monterey, so use this as a starting list and check with each organiser.
Events
Three events are listed in the events and clubs below. STEM and Stories is for ages 5 to 10 and is held in St George. There is also a Community Christmas Concert in St George and Magic of Christmas at Carss Park. The organisers set the dates, and some events may fall before or after the break, so check the details on their pages. Ask whether children need a ticket or a booking, as the listings don't say.
Classes
Beginners Taekwondo in St George is the one class listed. Ask the organiser about the age group, how long a session runs and whether you can try a session first. Martial arts classes often group children by age or grade, so it is worth asking where a beginner would start.
Football clubs
Football is well covered. Two clubs have Monterey listings, Kogarah Waratah Football Club and Ramsgate RSL Football Club. Others nearby include Dolls Point FC, Brighton Seagulls JRLFC in Ramsgate and Rockdale Ilinden FC in Brighton-Le-Sands. Clubs usually have set seasons, so ask whether anything runs in the holidays, such as a clinic or a casual session, and what age groups each one takes.
Swimming and music
Two swim schools are listed in Kogarah, Duck And Dive Baby Swim School Kogarah and St George Swim Academy. Starlight Music, also in Kogarah, is listed for music. Ask each one about ages, class levels and booking. The listings don't give fees or timetables, and holiday sessions may differ from the term timetable.
Planning the day
- Choose one main activity and check the travel time from Monterey.
- For classes and swim lessons, confirm a spot with the organiser first.
- Ask about trial sessions, as a first visit often shows whether a child will enjoy it.
- Bring water, sunscreen and a hat for anything outdoors.
- The organisers' own pages have the latest details.
