Dance for kids in Penrith and Nepean is mostly studio-based. We have ten dance schools and clubs listed across the area, and no one-off dance events or classes right now, so this guide is about the studios and clubs. Start with the one closest to home, then ask about ages, levels and class times.

Where the studios are

  • Penrith: three are listed, including Westside Performing Arts and PAWS Studios Dance School.
  • Emu Plains: Sally K Dance and The Heights Dance and Cheer.
  • Jamisontown: two are listed, including Brosnan Academy of Irish Dance.
  • South Penrith, Cambridge Park and Cranebrook have one each.

The clubs listed below the guide show the full list with links.

Choosing a style

We only have the studio names to go by, so ask each one what it teaches. Some names point to a particular style, such as Irish dance at Brosnan Academy, and some include cheer as well as dance. Others sound like they cover performing arts more broadly. We don't have age ranges, class times or prices, so please check with the studio directly.

Questions to ask before you enrol

  • What age groups and levels do you teach?
  • Can my child try a class first?
  • What do the fees cover, and are there extra costs such as uniforms, costumes or concerts?
  • When do classes run, and do they pause in the school holidays?
  • Is there a waiting list for my child's age group?

A child who is nervous about starting might settle more easily if a friend comes along for the first class, so it is worth asking whether that is allowed.

If you live further out

The Penrith and Nepean area also takes in Kingswood, Werrington, Glenmore Park, Jordan Springs, Llandilo, Castlereagh, Orchard Hills, Regentville, Leonay and Mulgoa. We don't have a studio listed in those suburbs yet, and we're still adding more. If you live there, look at the nearby suburbs above and think about the travel time on a school afternoon. A studio that is easy to get to is more likely to become a habit that lasts.

The studios' own pages and social accounts have the latest timetables and enrolment details, so check them before you visit.
