Penrith and the Nepean area have six places listed for kids who like to make things, from galleries to art schools and craft studios. This guide shows what we have, so you can find somewhere creative to try. We don't have any arts events listed for the area right now, so these are all places to contact directly.

What is listed now

  • The Joan in Penrith.
  • Plaster Funtime in Penrith.
  • Penrith Regional Gallery: Learning in Emu Plains.
  • Blue Mountains Creative Arts Centre in Leonay.
  • MJ Art School in Jordan Springs.
  • State of Art in Llandilo.

We haven't been given class times, ages, prices or the kinds of art each place teaches. That means we can't tell you whether painting, pottery or drawing is on offer, and we won't guess.

Questions to ask first

Each place sets its own rules, so a quick message saves a wasted trip.

  • What ages do you take, and is there a minimum age?
  • Do you run classes, workshops or drop-in sessions for children?
  • Do I need to book, and what does it cost?
  • Should my child bring anything, or wear clothes that can get messy?

Choosing a place

A gallery learning program can suit a child who enjoys looking at art as well as making it. An art school or creative centre may offer regular classes if your child wants to build skills over time. A studio such as Plaster Funtime may suit a one-off visit. These are general ideas only, so check each organiser's own page to see what they run.

Planning a visit

  • Look at the map. The listings cover Penrith, Emu Plains, Leonay, Jordan Springs and Llandilo, so choose one close to home or to another stop on your day.
  • Try one place first. A single session shows whether your child wants more.
  • Bring a drink and a snack, and ask what the venue allows.
  • Ask about timing. Classes often follow school terms, so check when the next one starts.

More to come

We're still adding arts and crafts options across Penrith and Nepean, including events and classes. This page will grow as organisers share them. If you run an art class or workshop for kids in the area, let us know. For the latest details, go to each organiser's own page, linked in the listings below.

Built from Roolu's local listings. Dates, prices and ages can change, so check with each organiser before you go.
