  1. Regular sessions at Liverpool libraries
  2. Summer school holiday workshops
  3. Ideas by age
  4. Planning the day

The first day of summer is 1 December 2026. We have no event listed for that exact day, but there are family sessions in Liverpool that suit the start of the season. All the activities we have for this theme are in Liverpool, so if you are searching from Penrith, plan for the trip. Details are as the organisers publish them.

Regular sessions at Liverpool libraries

  • Saturday Storytime for ages 1 to 7 at Liverpool City Library
  • Multicultural Playgroups, for ages 0 to 5
  • A youth chess program at Liverpool City Library (Yellamundie)

These suit the weeks around the start of summer, but we don't have dates or times. Ask the library which days they run and whether you need to book.

Summer school holiday workshops

Three summer school holiday sessions are listed in Liverpool:

  • Old Skool Games
  • Comic Creations
  • Glow Art for kids, presented by Doodle Dezigns, which is listed several times

These belong to the summer school holiday program, so they may fall later than the first day of summer. Check dates with the organiser before you plan, and look at which session suits your family.

Ideas by age

  • Babies to age 5: playgroups and storytime are the closest fit.
  • Ages 5 to 7: Saturday Storytime still fits, and the holiday workshops may suit, so ask about age ranges.
  • Older kids: the chess program and the workshops are worth asking about.

Planning the day

  • Summer weather can be hot, so aim for morning visits and take water and a hat.
  • Allow extra time for travel to Liverpool.
  • Book with the organiser where they ask for it.
  • Keep one free afternoon after a big session, because kids tire in the heat.

We're still adding summer activities for other areas, including around Penrith. For the latest dates and details, use the organisers' own pages.

Built from Roolu's local listings. Dates, prices and ages can change, so check with each organiser before you go.
