On a wet day, the indoor options we have listed for Blacktown and the North-West are a few library sessions and one workshop. It is a short list, and we're still adding more indoor programs. Here is what is listed, with questions to ask before you head out.
Library sessions in Seven Hills
Three sessions are listed in Seven Hills:
- Drone Discovery at Wentworth Point Library
- ABii Robot Tutoring at Constitution Hill Library
- Henna on Hands at Wentworth Point Library
These suit kids who like technology or art. We don't have age ranges, dates or times, so ask each library who the session is for and whether you need to book. If you have more than one child, ask whether siblings can join together.
A workshop in Blacktown
The Criminal Process: UNSW Youth Legal Workshop is listed in Blacktown. It is aimed at young people, so it may suit older kids and teenagers better than primary-age children. Ask the organiser about the age range, the format and whether it is held indoors.
Ideas for the rest of the day
- Combine a library session with a browse of the shelves and a quiet reading corner.
- Bring a small activity bag, such as drawing pads, a puzzle or cards, for waiting time.
- Keep a spare set of clothes in the car if you have to walk between the car and the entrance.
- Call ahead on the morning. Weather can change plans, and organisers sometimes update sessions.
Planning tips
- Wet days make roads slower, so allow extra time to get to Seven Hills or Blacktown.
- Check parking and which entrance is closest to the door.
- Book with the organiser where they ask for it. We don't take bookings.
- Sessions can be small, so arrive on time.
Suburbs across the area, including Doonside, Rooty Hill and Plumpton, have little or nothing indoors listed for now. We're still adding more, so check back. For the latest details, use the organisers' own pages.
