Penrith and Nepean has library programs, museums and learning providers for kids who like to build, tinker and ask questions. Right now we have two events listed, a robotics session in Penrith and a Dharug story time with Penrith City Library's children's team. Most of the rest are places and providers you can contact about classes.
Events and library programs
Penrith City Library is the place to start. The robotics session and the Dharug story time are both listed in Penrith, and the children's team runs story times for young children. Libraries at Blaxland, Emu Plains and St Marys are also on our list. Library programs change often, so check each branch for what is coming up. We don't have ages, times or prices for these, so ask the library.
Museums to visit
- Museum of Fire in Penrith.
- Penrith Museum of Printing, where kids can see how printing worked.
- The Arms of Australia Inn Museum in Emu Plains.
Museums suit a rainy afternoon or a curious child who likes looking at how things were made. Check opening days, entry costs and whether there is anything set up for children before you go.
Classes and learning providers
Young Growth Academy and The Tuition Place, both in Penrith, are listed as learning providers. We don't have details of what they teach, which ages they take or what they cost, so contact them directly. It helps to ask what a typical session looks like and whether your child can watch or try one first.
Choosing something that suits your child
- Pick the interest first: building, stories, history or tutoring support are all different choices.
- Ask about age groups, as some sessions are for young children and others for older kids.
- Ask how big the group is and whether a parent stays.
- Ask about costs and whether booking is needed.
Planning the trip
The area runs from Emu Plains to Mulgoa, and most of what we have is in Penrith. Work out the travel before you go, and combine a library visit with a museum if they are close together. We're still adding more classes and STEM options, particularly in suburbs such as Glenmore Park, Jordan Springs and Cranebrook.
The organisers' own pages have the latest details, so check them before you head out.
