Learning and STEM options for kids across Blacktown and the North-West mostly run through libraries, plus a few museums and historic houses. This guide covers four events and ten places we hold, and how to check what suits your child.
Events on our list
Four events are listed. Drone Discovery and ABii Robot Tutoring are both listed under Seven Hills, with Henna on Hands. A fourth, The Criminal Process: UNSW Youth Legal Workshop, is listed in Blacktown. Some event names mention libraries in other suburbs, so check the venue before you travel. We do not hold ages, times or booking details, so ask the organiser who each one is for.
Libraries
Several libraries are listed: Dennis Johnson Library in Quakers Hill, Riverstone Library, Max Webber Library in Blacktown, Lalor Park Library and Wentworthville Library under Seven Hills, Greystanes Library under Prospect, and a School Library in Doonside. Libraries often run programs for children, but we do not hold what each is offering now, so check their pages.
Museums and historic houses
Riverstone Museum is listed in Riverstone, and Rouse Hill Estate and Rouse Hill House are listed in Schofields. These suit families who like to learn by visiting a place. Ask about opening days, ages and any activities for children, because we do not hold those details.
Questions to ask
- What ages is the session or program for?
- Do we need to book or register?
- Is there a cost?
- Does a parent need to stay?
- Does my child need to bring anything?
Planning the day
A library visit is easy to combine with a session. Arrive early so your child can settle in, and check where to park. For sessions on robots or drones, ask whether younger siblings can sit in or whether the room is for a set age group.
Check the latest
Libraries and venues add and change sessions through the year. The events and places below link to their own pages. Check there for the latest details, and contact the organiser if you are unsure about anything.
