Diwali falls on 8 November 2026, and our listings for it are three library sessions in Parramatta: two Diwali story times and one story time with a craft. We have not found Diwali listings in Penrith yet, so families there would need to travel. This guide covers what we hold and how to plan.
What we have found
Parramatta Library has two sessions listed: Diwali Story Time, and Diwali Story Time & Craft. Wentworth Point Library, also listed under Parramatta, has a third Diwali Story Time. We do not hold ages, session times or booking details. The day and event details are as the organisers publish them, so check the library's own page before you go.
Story time or craft
If your child likes listening and sitting with a book, the story times are the simple choice. The session with a craft suits children who like making something to take home. Ask the library which ages each one suits and whether a parent needs to stay.
Planning the outing
- Check the date and time with the library. Sessions may not fall on the day of Diwali itself.
- Ask whether you need to book or register, because library sessions can have limited places.
- Work out the route and parking before you leave, especially if you are coming from outside Parramatta.
- Arrive a little early so younger children can settle in.
- Bring a bag for any craft your child makes.
If you are in Penrith
We are still adding Diwali listings across Western Sydney. If you would rather stay close to home, check the Penrith City Library page and your local council's events page for anything new. We do not hold a Penrith Diwali event at the moment, and we would rather say so than pad this guide with things that are not about Diwali.
Check the latest
Organisers change times and add sessions without much notice. The events below link to their own pages, and those pages have the latest details. Check them again closer to the day, and contact the library if you are unsure about anything.
