Blacktown and the North-West have plenty of dance studios for kids. We list ten, mostly in Seven Hills, Plumpton and Blacktown, with one in Riverstone. This guide helps you narrow them down and shows what to ask before you book.
Studios by suburb
Seven Hills has the most, with five listed: 2Step Dance, Constant Groove Dance Studio, Powerhouse Dance Factory, Dance House Studios and Legacy Dance Academy. Plumpton has Exclusive Dance and Static Dance Studios. In Blacktown you will find A1 Dance Studio and Studio Dance Australia, and Natasha's Arts Theatre is in Riverstone.
We do not hold class times, styles, age ranges or prices for these studios, so contact the ones near you to find out what they teach and who it suits.
What to ask a studio
- Which styles do you teach, and which suit a beginner?
- What ages do you take, and are classes grouped by age or level?
- Can my child try a class before we enrol?
- What does it cost, and are there extras such as uniforms or concert fees?
- Do you run end-of-year shows, and is taking part optional?
Choosing a studio
Start with the suburb that is easiest to reach on a weeknight or Saturday. A studio close to home or school is easier to stick with than a better-sounding one across the area. If your child is unsure, a trial class lets them see the room, meet the teacher and watch the other kids.
Children who love performing may enjoy a studio that puts on shows. Those who just want to move and have fun may prefer something more relaxed. Neither is better. Ask the studio how they handle both.
Planning the week
Check what your child needs to wear and whether shoes are required for the first class. Arrive a few minutes early so they can settle in. If you have more than one child, ask whether classes can run back to back, which saves a lot of driving.
Check the latest
Studios change their timetables and add classes through the year. The studios below link to their own pages, and those pages have the latest details. Contact the studio first if you are unsure about anything.
